Artist’s Statement

The figure in the artwork holds a brick, symbolizing Kim Foxx as a little girl. From my perspective, the brick her mother gave her from their old building was a foundation, literally and figuratively. And that foundation gave her the vision and agency to produce the adult Kim Foxx who stares back at her in the image.
